Safety checklist for drivers using LeShuttle Freight
Safety and security is our top priority. It is essential that the following safety rules are respected at all times when driving through the LeShuttle terminals and boarding Freight shuttles:
- All passengers must be declared at Check-in – no charges are incurred for additional passengers. A maximum of 3 persons, including the driver, are allowed per vehicle. Failure to declare all passengers is a breach of conditions and you may be refused travel
- For safety and security reasons, drivers and/or passengers with reduced mobility cannot be accommodated on LeShuttle Freight trains
- No smoking permitted in the boarding areas and onboard (including vaping)
- The speed limit is 6 mph (10 km/h when driving on the Freight shuttle.
- The maximum height authorised for vehicles in our Freight Shuttles is 4.20m. All aerials must be lowered and secured before boarding
- Tarpaulin must always be correctly attached to the trailer and in good condition
- All electrical and gas equipment in the cab must be turned off after loading, including cab heater, refrigerator and camping gas stoves. It is essential that you switch off your vehicle's headlights and the lights in your cabin once you have boarded our shuttles.
- Do not remain in your vehicle during the crossing.
- Please ensure that all vehicle windows are completely closed before leaving your vehicle on the train and that cab curtains be kept open at all times
- Ensure your fuel cap is on
- Only children aged 12 years and over are authorised to travel on our freight shuttles
- No livestock, animals or domestic pets are accepted for carriage on the freight shuttles
- All access points into the tankers must be fully secured
Safety checklist for VanPro service
It is important for van drivers to make themselves aware of the safety rules when at the terminal and boarding our shuttles:
- All passengers must be declared – no charges are incurred for additional passengers. A maximum of 3 persons, including the driver, are allowed per vehicle. Failure to declare all passengers is a breach of conditions and you may be refused travel
- Have all vehicle documents ready for inspection
- No livestock, animals or domestic pets are accepted
- Dangerous goods are prohibited (please read important information regarding the carriage of firearms)
- Follow the instructions of the boarding staff or train crew
- Check to ensure that no stowaway passengers have concealed themselves in your vehicle
- Maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front
- Respect the speed limit of 6 mph (10 km/h) when on board the shuttle
- Smoking and flash photography are strictly forbidden on board
- Switch off your headlights
- Passengers should not stand or walk between vehicles or between vehicles and the doors at either end of the carriages during the crossing
- Passengers must not tamper with the onboard safety equipment, such as wheel chocks and fire extinguishers
- Passengers must follow instructions given on the public address as well as those shown on the visual display screens in your carriage or given by the staff on board
- Note the number of your carriage shown on the visual display screens
- Switch off all electrical equipment in your vehicle after boarding, including fridge unit
