Retail & Consumer Goods Freight
Why choose LeShuttle Freight for your retail logistics?
Retail and consumer goods, commonly known as ‘fast-moving consumer goods’ (FMCG), are a key part of the global supply chain, requiring a fast and reliable freight solution to ensure products reach stockists in a timely fashion.
Everything we do at LeShuttle Freight is focused on speed, care and safety. Retailers and distributors rely on us because our service provides the fastest road route between the UK and mainland Europe. Whether it’s the 35-minute crossing between Folkestone to Calais, or the efficiency of our border and customs controls, LeShuttle Freight delivers consistent results for the retail sector.
How do retail & consumer goods get shipped with LeShuttle Freight?
With extensive experience supporting FMCG logistics providers with cross-channel freight solutions, we understand what’s important in short shelf-life distribution. Whatever you’re transporting – from tinned food and toiletries to cleaning products and cosmetics – and wherever it sits in your supply chain, you can be sure your goods are in safe hands with LeShuttle Freight. If any driver documentation is required, our customer service team ensures checks are carried out quickly and efficiently, keeping your journey on schedule.
At LeShuttle Freight we ensure the smooth passage of your cargo from factory floor to distribution centre, and from store to door.
Before your crossing
It’s easy to book your crossing online. Alternatively, if you have a freight account with us, you can travel without booking in advance. Just ensure your company’s fleet details are up to date before using our service.
When your driver arrives at our Folkestone or Calais terminals, our systems will automatically recognise their registration plate. Once your driver has passed the necessary border controls, security and check-in, we will direct them onto our first available shuttle – of which there are up to six departures per hour.
During and after the crossing
After parking up in the shuttle, drivers must exit their vehicle, ensuring that all electrical systems such as including refrigeration units are switched off. Drivers will then be taken to an air-conditioned ‘Club Car’ where they can relax during the 35-minute crossing.
The time drivers spend in the Club Car is considered a mandatory break in their tachograph, so they can be on their way as soon as they exit our terminal after the crossing.
