Retail & consumer goods freight and shipping

Speed is the essence of retail logistics, and LeShuttle Freight works closely with the retail and consumer sector to ensure that goods reach warehouses, stores and customers in the fastest possible time.

Why choose LeShuttle Freight for your retail logistics?

Retail and consumer goods, commonly known as FMCG, are a key part of the global supply chain.

Everything we do at LeShuttle Freight is focused on speed, care and safety. Retailers and distributors rely on us because they know that our service provides the fastest road route into the UK from mainland Europe. Whether it’s the 35-minute crossing from Folkestone to Calais, or the efficiency of our border and customs controls, LeShuttle Freight delivers day-in, day-out results for the retail sector.

How do retail & consumer goods get shipped with LeShuttle Freight?

With a wealth of experience of retail logistics solutions, we know what’s important in short shelf-life distribution. So whatever you’re transporting – from tinned food to toiletries, cleaning products to cosmetics – and at whatever stage of the supply chain, it will be in safe hands with LeShuttle Freight. If there is any paperwork needed from your driver, our customer service staff will ensure that checks are carried out quickly and efficiently.

At LeShuttle Freight we ensure the smooth passage of your cargo from factory floor to distribution centre, and from store to door.

Before your crossing

Simply book your crossing as normal – if you have a freight account with us, you don’t even need to book! Just make sure your company’s fleet details are up to date before using our service. When your driver arrives at our Folkestone or Calais terminals our systems will recognise their registration plate, and after border controls, security and check-in we will direct them onto our first available shuttle.

During and after the crossing

After parking up in the shuttle, drivers exit their truck. All electrical systems (including refrigeration units) have to be switched off. Drivers travel in an air-conditioned ‘Club Car’ where they can relax during the 35-minute crossing. The time drivers spend in the Club Car counts as a mandatory break in their tachograph, so they can be on their way as soon as they exit our terminal after the crossing.

Frequently asked questions

Are there any types of retail and consumer goods you don’t ship at LeShuttle Freight?

We ship most short shelf-life products. The only goods we don’t accept are certain types of dangerous goods. You can find these listed in our terms and conditions.

Is using LeShuttle Freight quicker than a ferry?

Yes. The ferry crossing from Dover to Calais takes at least 90 minutes, whereas using the Channel Tunnel with LeShuttle Freight is only a 35-minute crossing.
